OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–APRIL 24, 2026– DW Shown D Off lived up to his name Friday, showing off for owner Danny J. Watkins and trainer Dee Keener by winning the Grade 2, $25,000 Victoria Ennis Memorial Stakes for Paints and Appaloosas. The field this year was comprised of just Paint runners.

“We named this horse because its Danny Watkins showing Dee Keener off,” Watkins said with a laugh as he praised his trainer. The owner hails from Wagoner, Okla.

The 2-year-old Oklahoma-bred Paint colt by the American Quarter Horse sire Uncle D, out of the SF Royal Quick Flash mare Shez Showin Off, has now won two of three starts with this being his first stakes victory. Jockey Roman Cruz was making his third trip to the winner’s circle on the night when he got DW Showin D Off up by a head as the 3-5 wagering favorite. The winner had to wait out a five-minute inquiry after the race as he came in to the center of the track from his outside, number eight, post-position. The runner-up MW Because Im Alive (7-2) also moved to the middle from the number one post-position. Both horses survived further inspection of the race by the stewards.

“I knew I was in front; I just wanted to keep him straight,” said Cruz.

It wasn’t exactly straight, but it was straight enough.

DW Showin D Off hit the wire over 330 yards in :16.965 on the fast track, good for an 82 speed index, the same figure given to runner-up MW Because Im Alive, who ran the distance in :16.983. The winner returned $3.40 to win, $2.40 to place and $2.10 to show to his backers. Zazas Coconut Cartel (5-1) was another length back in third.

The rest of the order of finish was Bricktown (8-1) fourth, Js Cowgirl Chicken (54-1) fifth, Tres of Light (8-1) sixth, Readi to Fire (26-1) seventh and My Navajo Squaw (33-1) eighth.

“From the start, we knew we had a good one,” Keener said of this colt. “I think he is getting better.”

DW Showin D Off earned $14,640 for the trip to the winner’s circle and improved to three starts, two wins and one third, for a bankroll of $39,500. He was bred by his owner.

This was the fifth win of the Victoria Ennis Memorial Stakes for Keener, and the first for Cruz and Watkins. Keener, who is the all-time winningest trainer in Mixed-breed racing history, got his first Victoria Ennis Memorial in 2013 with Corporal Cash, followed by wins in 2016 with KC Texas Lady, in 2023 with R Cowgirl and in 2025 with JC Speeding.

Second place went to MW Bcause Im Alive, who put in a solid effort to finish just a head behind the winner. Owned by Haus Of Hero, the colt is trained by James Gonzales III and was ridden by Christian Cardenas. Bred by James and Wendy Howard, he now holds a record of 3-1-1-0. The colt is sired by B Cause Im A Hero and is out of the CRM Livewire mare Pistol Grippin Gal.

Third place was Zazas Coconut Cartel, who rallied late after a troubled trip to secure a placing in just her second career start. The filly is owned by Russell and Melissa Trull, trained by Kasey Willis and was ridden by Gonzalo Gutierrez. Bred by Russell Trull, she is sired by Flying Cowboy 123 and is out of the Lota PYC mare I Like It Alota.

The Victoria Ennis Memorial is named in honor of the Oklahoman who was a member of the Appaloosa Horse Club Hall of Fame and Appaloosa Racing Hall of Fame. She was a prominent breeder and owner for many years before her passing in 2009.

Remington Park racing continues Saturday and Sunday, April 25 & 26. The first race Saturday is at 6pm with Sunday action underway at 4pm. All times are Central.
