Flying Fire Blazes to Victory in $75,000 FL Lady Bug Stakes at Remington Park

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 30, 2026—Flying Fire lived up to her name Saturday night at Remington Park, surging to the front from the start and never looking back en route to a convincing victory in the $75,000 FL Lady Bug Stakes (RG3) for accredited Oklahoma-bred 2-year-old fillies. The race was contested at 350 yards over a fast track.

Owned and bred by Bryan Hawk and trained by Jason Olmstead, Flying Fire covered the distance in :17.914 while racing into a 15 mph headwind. Ridden by Ramiro Garcia, the brown daughter of leading sire Flying Cowboy 123 out of the Walk Thru Fire mare Rfancy Fire collected the winner’s share of $43,200.

Breaking sharply from the rail, Flying Fire quickly established command and drew clear to score by 1 1/4 lengths. The filly entered the stakes off a second-place finish in the Heritage Place Futurity trials. She broke her maiden in her career debut at Remington Park on April 3 while winning a trial for the Remington Park Futurity. She added a graded stakes trophy to her resume with this impressive performance.

Relentless Ruth finished second for owner Gene Cox and trainer Stacey Capps. The Hes Relentless's daughter was ridden by Cody Smith and earned $14,400. Cox bred the filly in Oklahoma from the Tres Seis mare Kellies Seis, She has earned $32,635 in three starts.

Tellem Im In The 918, racing for owner 918 Bloodstock, trainer Dee Keener, and jockey Roman Cruz, rallied late to secure third and earn $7,920. Jay Ross, DVM bred the filly by second-crop sire Tell Cartel in Oklahoma from the Hes Relentless mare Recurring Dreams.

Auntie D finished fourth and was followed by Shes Qualified in fifth. She Makes It Special crossed the wire sixth but was disqualified and placed seventh following a stewards' inquiry. Lookee Here, Daddy was elevated to sixth, while My Flying Eagle finished eighth, and Ruby Blue completed the order of finish in ninth.

The FL Lady Bug Stakes carried a guaranteed purse of $75,000, including Oklahoma Bred Program funds, and served as one of the season's minor tests for Oklahoma-bred juvenile fillies. Flying Fire answered that challenge emphatically, stamping herself as one of the leading young fillies on the Remington Park grounds.

FL Lady Bug (1945–1974) was a legendary American Quarter Horse mare. Despite never racing or competing in a show herself, she became one of the most prolific and important broodmares in the history of Quarter Horse racing. She was owned by Marvin and Lela Barnes of Ada, Oklahoma.
