VINTON, LA–MAY 30, 2026–Delta Downs hosted the $28,900 Delta Dash Stakes on Saturday night as the track closed out its sixth week of American Quarter Horse racing. The race produced an upset winner in Carry On Moon, who was dismissed at odds of 16-1 by the betting public but outran his odds under jockey Rolando Cabrera to get the victory over race favorite Konnan Cartel.

The Delta Dash is contested at 250 yards, and a fast start is imperative. That’s what Carry On Moon got as he battled early on but gained the advantage late and held off a charge by Konnan Cartel to win by a head. El Turista was along for third, another half length behind the top pair.

Carry On Moon covered the distance over a fast racetrack in a time of 12.986, which equaled a speed index of 96.

The win was only the third of Carry On Moon’s 18-race career and it marked his first in stakes company. He earned $18,000 for the effort and now has a bankroll of $71,870.

Bred in Louisiana by Gerald Vidrine and Tommy Fontanot, Carry On Moon is a 4-year-old chestnut gelding by Moonin The Eagle, out of the Game Patriot mare Carry On Game.

Runner-up honors in the Delta Dash Stakes went to Konnan Cartel, a 6-year-old brown gelding by Five Bar Cartel out of Jet Black Chiraq, by Jet Black Patriot. Bred in Louisiana by Luis Armando Castellanos, Konnan Cartel races for owner Dania Castellanos and is trained by S. Villaseca. Under jockey J. Garcia, the veteran gelding earned $6,000 for his second-place effort.

Finishing third was El Turista, a 4-year-old black colt by PYC Paint Your Wagon out of Shesa Vivian, by Just Amazing Jess. Bred in California by Jose G. Reyes, El Turista is owned by Ismael Romero and conditioned by J. Carrizales. Ridden by R. Edison, the colt collected $2,200 for his third-place finish.

Blood Kiss, Ttt La Kas, Tf Jess A Eagle, India de La Nieve and C The Power completed the field.

Fans who backed Carry On Moon at the windows were rewarded to payoffs of $35 to win, $12.20 to place and $5 to show. Konnan Cartel was worth $3.20 to place and $2.80 to show. El Turista paid $5.60 to show.

Live racing will take place next Wednesday through Saturday. First post time each night is set for 6:15pm.
