JEROME, ID–JUNE 21, 2026– Paint The City and jockey Jose Figueroa captured the $5,000 Pete Arrossa Memorial (not black type) at Jerome County Fair on June 21.
The 350-yard event was open to 3-year-olds and older. Paint The City held on by a half-length to stop the clock in :17.534.
Owned and trained by Cesar Luna, Paint The City was bred by Spencer Peterson. The 4-year-old gelding is sired by Jess Paint Me and out of the Five Bar Cartel mare High Five City.
The victory improved his record to 14 starts with four wins, three seconds, and two thirds. The $2,500 winner's share increased his earnings to $18,535. He was second in last year's Elko County Fair Derby and finished fourth in the 2024 Elko Intermountain Futurity.
Master PYC finished second under Raul Zapien for owner, breeder, and trainer Ruben Estrada. The gelding is by Dash Master Jess and out of the Lota PYC mare TM Lota Della.
He now owns a record of 6-1-1-0 with earnings of $6,386. He was a finalist in both the Idaho Cup Futurity and Bitterroot Juvenile Invitational.
BW Just A Ruger completed the trifecta under Jesus Flores for owner Maria Baltodano and trainer Glen Jamison. Bred by Thomas Boyd and Betty Weeks, the mare is sired by Justified and out of the Ettaduino mare BW Robins Lark.
She now has a career record of 26-9-8-5 and is a winner of the Oneida County Mixed Breed Derby.
Aint Shee Something finished fourth, followed by Pablo Cartel and High Flier.
