Pyc Paint Your Wagon Dominates Remington Park Derby Trials

Pyc Paint Your Wagon Dominates Remington Park Derby Trials

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 1, 2012—On the Sunday undercard at Remington Park, leading third crop sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon's offspring dominated the five trials to determine the field for the $246,000 Remington Park Derby.

The fastest qualifying time at the 400-yard distance belonged to BV Valentine Wagon in the third trial. Owned by Bella Vista Farm of Arcola, Ill. and trained by Eddie Lee Willis, BV Valentine Wagon was ridden by Kenny Muntz to a time of :19.674.

BV Valentine Wagon is a 3-year-old Oklahoma-bred filly by Pyc Paint Your Wagon from the Eyesa Special mare Eyesa First and was bred in state by Bella Vista Farms.

Oklahoma Derby winner Cruzin The Wagon picked up her eighth win in nine starts with a 1 ¾ length victory in the second trial to post the third fastest clocking of :19.792 for owner's Terry and Mary Louise Pursel. Brent Clay saddles the filly who has earned more than $216,762.

Michael Phol bred Cruzin The Wagon form the Okey Dokey Dale mare Penelope Cruzin.

Send Me A Candy Tree (#9), A Toss Up (#4) and Rmiss Jessy (#1) qualifying from the last trial.

Pyc Paint Your Wagon had three of the five Remington trial winners and also sired 4th qualifier Haulin Candy Salt and and 10th qualifier Painted Lies.

Bill Price's Bps Jumpn Frisco finished second in the fastest trial while setting the second fastest time of :19.737 seconds for trainer Eddie D. Willis. Jimmy Brooks was aboard the homebred Jumpn gelding out of Frisco Fling, by Dash For Cash. The brown gelding came into the trials off a close effort in the Mr Jet Moore Stakes on March 18. He was also fifth in the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity(G1) last December at Los Alamitos Race Course.

Willis and Brooks teamed to put three head in the finals, while trainer Clinton Crawford and jockey Tony Bennett had two qualifiers.
