ALBUQUERQUE, NM—AUGUST 28, 2020—Woodys Gold kept his solid stakes form in tact Friday when he won the fourth of five trials for the $500,000-est. New Mexico State Fair Quarter Horse Futurity(RG3) at The Downs at Albuquerque.

Under jockey Francisco Calderon the sorrel gelding posted the top mark of :19.610 seconds, equaling a 91 speed index with a 6 mph tailwind.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to The Downs Sunday, September 20th to vie for the winner's share of the purse going 400 yards.

Conditioned by trainer Clinton Crawford, Woodys Gold shipped in from Ruidoso Downs where he has made all four of his previous starts, including runner-up appearances in both the Zia QH Futurity(RG1) and the Mountain Top NM Bred Quarter Horse Futurity(RG2). Owner Cavenaugh Quarter Horses, LLC purchased the son of multiple stakes sire Woodbridge for $10,000 from breeder MJ Farms at the 2019 New Mexico Bred Yearling Sale. Out of the Gold Case (TB) mare All About Gold (TB), Woodys Gold has banked $137,500 this season.

Your Easy Jess was an easy 1-¾ length winner in the third trial to capture the third fastest clocking of :19.779 seconds, with no wind. Trainer Jesus Marquez saddled the Jess A Chicks gelding for owner Armando Alamos.

The $5,000 New Mexico-Bred Ruidoso Yearling Sale graduate entered the trials off a third-place finish in the Hadley/Giles Futurity in May. Edgar Martinez rode the sorrel gelding out of Easy Your Honor by Mr Jess Perry. Bred by Mike Abraham, Your Easy Jess has earned $13,777 with two wins in four starts.
