BELCOURT, ND—AUGUST 29, 2020—Chippewa Downs hosted two non-blacktype stakes on Saturday's race card, the $8,500 NDQHA Maturity and the $7,800 ND Grass Roots Certified Mixed Futurity.

NDQHA Maturity

Ramblin V Eight, a 4-year-old daughter of Ima Ramblin On, defeated Cowboywannab by half-a-length in the $8,500 NDQHA Maturity on Saturday. Ridden by jockey Joel Estrada, the bay filly covered the 350 yards in :18.250 seconds, equaling an 89 speed index.

The multiple stakes winner races for owner Bryton Dewald and is conditioned by Bill Geditz. Bred by Randal Schwartz, from the Lead The Field mare Two Thirty Eight, Ramblin V Eight has won seven of 15 career starts and the $4,250 winners' purse today boosted her bankroll to $39,288.

Cowboywannab, a 5-year-old daughter of Cowboy Cartel, earned $2,040 for second. Cole Wilson trains for owner-breeder Tyrell Moody.

Bill Geditz saddled third-place finisher Texas Eye for owner William Joe Geditz. The 5-year-old son of Tac It Like A Man earned $1,190 for the effort.

ND Grass Roots Certified Mixed Futurity

Fastest qualifier Coronas Tnc Whiskey returned Saturday to defeat second-fastest qualifier Rambliln Twin Turbo by a head in the $7,800 ND Grass Roots Certified Mixed Futurity. Ridden by jockey Jeramie Fennel, the son of Corona Up completed the 300 yards in :16.320 seconds, into a 5 mph crosswind.

Perry Cavanaugh saddled the winner for owner-breeder Darrel Smith. Out of the Shazoom mare Tko Sassy Zoom, Coronas Tnc earned $3,276 to double his earnings to $6,558.

Third in the Northern Plains Futurity between the trials and finals of the ND Grass Roots Certified Mixed Futurity, Ramblin Twin Turbo earned $1,404 for second. The colt, our of the Lead The Field mare Two Thirty Eight, has earned $5,704 in six starts. Bill Gedtiz saddled for owner Bryton Dewald.

John Bubel's homebred Vals First Corona finished 1-˝ lengths back to earn $1,014 for third. Trainer Terry Davis conditions the daughter of Corona B from the Dashing Val mare Miss Salty Val.
