Easy Blinkers Gets Sires' Cup Double With TQHA Sires' Cup Derby Win

SELMA, TX—AUGUST 29, 2020—Easy Blinkers got a head win over Hit Or Miss Kiss to score a TQHA Sires' Cup double Saturday night at Retama Park. Pamela Stone's Dealagame gelding, who won last year's Sires' Cup Futurity(RG3), returned to get the $92,140 TQHA Sire's Cup Derby.

Ridden by jockey Ivan Martinez, Easy Blinkers completed his 400 yard task in :20.421 seconds, into a 17 mph headwind, to take home the winner's purse valued at $36,856.

Trainer Angel Sanchez saddled the Texas-bred from the Special Effort mare Wide Open Effort. He has compiled a (7) 4-2-0 record and banked $99,251. All of his races except one have been at Retama Park.

California-bred Hit Or Miss, a daughter of champion and leading second-crop sire Kiss My Hocks, earned $18,428 for second. Alonso Neri named Manuel Urieta, Jr. to ride Jose Guzman's filly. John Andreini bred Hit Or Miss Kiss from the Mr Jess Perry mare One Famous Ermana. She picked up $18,428 to increase her bankroll to nearly $52,000. Two races back she was second in the Old South Derby at Delta Downs.

Sergio Holguin, Clifton Nielsen and Felix Rodriguez' Portfolioh finished three-quarters back to earn $9,214 for third. Also trained by Neri, the son of Corona Fast Dash is out of Jess A Lil Bit More by Mr Jess Perry. Bobby D. Cox bred the $41,537 earner. Manuel Urieta, Sr. was riding.

Doz Coronas, Monaco, Como Cartel, T K Cartel, Your Famous Hips, Canelo Alvarez and Em Jess Ronas Cash completed the field.
