California Import Top Qualifier To La Fiesta Quarter Horse Futurity Albuquerque
Apollitical On Time, under jockey Albert Medrano, posting the fastest qualifying time from four trials contest Saturday for the La Fiesta Quarter Horse Futurity at The Downs at Albuquerque.

California Import Top Qualifier To La Fiesta Quarter Horse Futurity Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM—SEPTEMBER 5, 2020—After making two off-the-board starts at Los Alamitos Race Course earlier this year, Ajs On Time shipped to The Downs at Albuquerque where he broke his maiden first time asked on August 23.

Today the Idaho bred son of leading sire Apollitical Jess romped to an impressive 1-¾ length trial win under jockey Albert Medrano to post the top qualifying time of :19.680 seconds, a 90 speed index for 400 yards.

Trainer Jesus Olivas saddled the $100,000 Los Alamitos Equine Mixed Sale graduate for owner Ricardo Ramirez. Spackman Racing bred Ajs On Time from the Corona Cartel mare Coronation Time.

Coming off a win in the All American Futurity trials August 21st, Speed Dynasty got his third win of the season in the final trial (Race 6) to get the second fastest time of :19.803 seconds. Under jockey Duan Sterling the son of world champion sire FDD Dynasty led by as much as a length at one time then held off a late rush from Hateful Rhetoric for the victory.

Fred Danley conditions the Utah-bred colt for owner J & SM, Inc. A $150,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate, Speed Dynasty also qualified for the $100,000 Rainbow QH Juvenile at. Ruidoso in July. Speed LLC bred the $49,600 earner from the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Sass Me.

In just her second career start, Elphaba broke her maiden in the third trial for owner Bobby Simmons and trainer Clinton Crawford. Ridden by jockey Daniel Amaya the daughter of champion and leading second-crop sire Kiss My Hocks recorded the third fastest time of :19.825 seconds.

An $18,500 Heritage Place September Yearling Sale repurchase, Elphaba was bred in Texas by Tyler Graham and Franklin Collins from the Streakin Sixes mare Witchs Streak.

Kiss My Hocks and Apollitical Jess were the only sires with multiple qualifiers, getting two each. First-crop sire Jess Good Candy also got a finalist.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to The Downs at Albuquerque on Sunday, September 20th to vie for the winner's share of the $250,000-est. purse.
