Cr Appollitical Joe Wins Third Consecutive, Sets Top Mark For Jim Bader Futurity

ALTOONA, IA—SEPTEMBER 5, 2020—Hawkeye Futurity winner Cr Appollitical Joe dominated the first of three trials for the Jim Bader Futurity Saturday with 4-¾ length win at Prairie Meadows.

Under jockey Jesus Salazar, Cr Appollitical Joe raced over the 350 yards in :17.693 seconds, equaling a 93 speed index into a 5 mph crosswind.

Trainer Jason Olmstead saddled the son of leading sire Apollitical Jess for owner-breeders Dick and Curt Tobin. After finishing third in a trial for the Heritage Place Futurity at Remington Park, the bay gelding has gone undefeated in three starts at Prairie Meadows.

He won the $75,555 Hawkeye Futurity in his last start (July 24) and has banked $51,901. Cr Appollitical Jess was bred in Iowa from the Streakin La Jolla mare LW Evening Lajolla.

Pl Pearl Harbor, runner-up to Cr Appollitical Joe in the Hawkeye Futurity defeated Appollitical Hawkeye by a nose in the last trial to secure the second fastest clocking of :18.010, also into a 5 mph crosswind.

Stacy Charette-Hill conditions the son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon for owner-breeder Thomas D. Lepic. Jorge Torres rode the stakes-placed gelding from the First Down Dash mare For Your First Lady. A winner of two of our starts, Pl Pearl Harbor has earned $27,713.

Five Guys Racing's Df Fabulous Flare broke his maiden in the second trial in :18.148 seconds to get the fifth fastest time. Trainer Ed Hardy named Alberto Navarree, Jr. to ride the third-place finisher in the Hawkeye Futurity.

First Down Dash mare Nothinlikelovin. He has earned $16,700 in five starts this year.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to Prairie Meadows on Saturday, September 26th to vie for the winner's share of the $135,900 purse going 350 yards.

Trainer Alex Wessels qualified four horses to the Jim Bader final.
