Vamoosing Returns For Mile High Derby Win at Arapahoe Tuesday

AURORA, CO—OCTOBER 4, 2022—West coast invader Vamoosing returned today to win the $83,905 Mile High Derby at Araphoe Park. The son of multiple stakes sire Separate Interest set the fastest qualifying time for the final in the September 18th trials.

Under jockey Daniel Valles, Vamoosing finished with a rush to get a half-length victory over Kickin Good Time who was disqualified for interference and placed fourth by track stewards.  The bay gelding completed the 400 yards in :19.686 seconds, a 104 speed index into 5 mph crosswind.

Vamoosing, who raced his entire career at Los Alamitos Race Course before shipping to Colorado earlier this summer for the derby season, races for owner Vences Racing. After winning his trial for the Rocky Mountain Derby he finished third in the final. Last year Vamoosing won the California Breeders Freshman Stakes.

Jose Arjon conditions the Edward C. Allred California-bred out of Escape The Fire by Walk Thru Fire. He has compiled a (15) 6-3-3 record and today's $33,562 winners' purse brings his career earnings to $82,043.
