Looke N At Me Earns First Stakes Win in $18,500 StallioneSearch.com Distaff at Rillito

TUCSON, AZ – MARCH 18, 2023 – In the featured Quarter Horse race of the Saturday afternoon card at Rillito, Looke N At Me emerged from a photo finish as the winner of the $18,500 StallioneSearch.com Distaff.

Looke N At Me ($4.60) was the post-time favorite in the 350-yard event for fillies and mares aged three and up and earned a 98 speed index with her time of :17.766.

Martin Osuna had the riding call for trainer Monica Ortega and owners Jose Ignacio Vazquez and Joseph Riesgo.

Looke N At Me is a 5-year-old mare bred in Arizona by Elaine Cota Robles, by Texas Icon and out of Jess One Looke, by Jesse James Jr. This was her first stakes win; she was fourth in her first career stakes effort, the Allred Brothers Stakes at Turf Paradise in January. She broke her maiden in her debut at Turf Paradise in 2022 and competed in allowance races at Los Alamitos.

She is three for seven lifetime with $36,037 in career earnings, including the Distaff winner’s share of $10,175.

Rockin Jo Kool dueled with the winner throughout the race before finishing in second place, beaten by a head. She also earned a 98 speed index with a final time of :17.779.

The 4-year-old Kool Wagon filly is out of Solid Anita Jo, by Rock Solid Jess, and was bred in Texas by Rockin J Running Horses. She is trained by James Crotts, owned by Angel Valenzuela, and was ridden by Michael Ybarra.

Rockin Jo Kool has earned $54,460 in 16 starts with three wins and is now stakes placed for the first time in her career. She qualified to the AQRA Turf Paradise Open Quarter Horse Futurity in 2021 and has also competed in the Rillito Derby and Desert Classic Derby.

Five Bars Happy completed the trifecta with David Pinon in the irons for trainer Alex Garcia and owner Cesar Segura. The 4-year-old Five Bar Cartel filly was bred by Glacia Fagan in Oklahoma, out of Jm Onfire, by Walk Thru Fire; Jm Onfire was third in the 2015 Ruidoso Derby (G1).

Five Bars Happy has five wins from 20 starts and earnings of $43,089. She won the Elko Intermountain Futurity in 2021 and qualified to the Bitterroot Futurity (G3) earlier that year. Prior to Saturday’s Stake, she was third in an allowance at Sunland Park.

Completing the field were Hot Girl Summer B, Df Fabulous Zanbo, Yn Mira Linda and Run Away and Hide.
