HOUSTON, TX–MAY 25, 2023–Wl Trapwire raced to her second consecutive win at Sam Houston Race Park Thursday evening while posting the fastest qualifying time for the Grade 2 $64,480 Colors Of Houston Futurity.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from three trials contested tonight, will return to the Houston racecourse on Saturday, June 3 and vie for a winner's purse valued at $24,502.

Away alertly under jockey Froylan Ramirez, Wl Trapwire dominated the field with a 1-3/4 length win. The daughter of Mhm Hotwire stopped the clock in :15.769 seconds, equaling an 89 speed index into a 6 mph crosswind.

Noe Rios trains the Oklahoma-bred filly for owner Zackery Rios. Wade and Susan Leggett bred Wl Trapwire from the Sf Royal Quick mare Cl Trap Queen.  After two starts at Remington Park earlier this year she broke her maiden May 4 at in a maiden at Sam Houston.

In just her second career starts Shar Huskey's Texas homebred Fancy A Miracle broke her maiden in the final trial to get the second fastest clocking of :15.846 seconds, an 87 speed index with a 6 mph crosswind.

Trainer Esteban Rubio named jockey Gerardo Luna to ride the Rock Solid Jess filly out of Tres Miracles by View Me Flying.
