Wire Transfer Remains Undefeated After Setting Fastest Time To PSBA American Paint Classic Futurity

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–APRIL 14, 2024–42 two-year-old Paint horses competed Sunday afternoon in five trial races to secure a spot in the $159,600 estimated PSBA American Paint Classic Futurity [G1] at Remington Park. The fillies dominated the field, with eight qualifying for the finals alongside two colts.

In the first trial heat, Grade 1 winner Wire Transfer left the competition in the dust after winning by an incredible four lengths and set the time to beat at :16.770 seconds.

APHA leading trainer Matt Whitekiller conditioned six of the ten qualifiers to the Grade 1 futurity, including Wire Transfer who was ridden by Salvador Martinez. The daughter of #1 APHA sire CRM Livewire clocked a 90 speed index against a 15 mph headwind. The heavily favored filly led the 330-yard race from start to finish and paid $2.40 to win. Her total earnings increased to $89,602 after cashing in the $4,038 prize.

Wire Transfer remains undefeated from three starts. She broke her maiden at Remington Park on March 7 by a head at 34-1 odds in the Oklahoma Paint and Appaloosa Futurity trials and then came back at 8-1 in the finals of that big race on March 23 by 1-1/4 lengths. Owner Robin Haggard bred Wire Transfer in Oklahoma out of the Tac It Like A Man mare Miss Fly On Tac. No other qualifier came from the first trial.

Pfr Road Rage, piloted by Rolando Raudales, boogied down the lane for a major upset in trial #3 and set the second fastest time in :16.930 seconds. The daughter of world champion Painted Turnpike defeated post-time favorite Frionas Turnpike by 1/2-length. The longshot's victory paid $52.00 to win on 25/1 odds.

This was the first win for Pfr Road Rage from two starts and she now has $4,128 in the bank. Trainer Dee Keener saddled the Oklahoma-bred filly out of the Dos Poruno mare Domestic Diva for owner/breeder Painted Faith Racing. Keener also qualified Wf Jess Candy to the Grade 1 finals.
