Kaseys Spirit Returns To Win Beehive Juvenile In Track Record Performance

OGDEN, UT–APRIL 21, 2024–Kaseys Spirit got her second career win in as many starts on Sunday while turning in a track-record-setting performance in the $15,161 Beehive Juvenile Sunday afternoon at Weber Downs.

Kaseys Spirit was all class as she broke from the gate under jockey Jesus Valenzuela to win by 1-3/4 lengths. The daughter of leading third-crop sire Kvn Corona completed the 300 yards in :15.241 seconds, equaling a 109-speed index with a 5 mph tailwind.

The previous Weber 300-yard track record of :15.264 seconds was set on May 1, 2021, by B The One.

Trainer Kylie Valenzuela saddled the Utah-bred filly for owner-breeder CG Racing LLC. Bred from the Mr Jess Perry mare High Spirited Jess, Kaseys Spirit earned $6,822 to boost her earnings to $8,322.

Runner-up Mysterious Cartel earned $3,335 for his effort. Trainer Abelardo Gonzalez named jockey Cesar Moreno to ride the Five Car Cartel colt for owner Luis Gonzalez. Jude and Ryan Robicheaux and Spanish Miss Quarter Horses bred the 2-year-old in Texas from the Valiant Hero mare Mysterious Night.

A neck back under jockey Oscar Villa, Genetically Famous picked up $2,678 for third. Sergio Canales trains the Genetically Gifted 2-year-old for owner-breeder Casey Whitaker. The Utah-bred gelding is out of Bf April Shower by Okey Dokey Dale.

Bittons Knud, Gh Fabulous Version, Notin Missing Here, Gg Rooster Cogburn, Veriforce, and Casino Fly completed the field. Dark Queen was scratched.
