Defending Champion Jessaprimadonna Returns For The Win In Century Mile Princess Stakes

EDMONTON, ALB–JUNE 15, 2024–Last year's defending champion Jessaprimadonna returns to get her second stakes victory of the season with open lengths in the $15,289 (US) Century Mile Princess Stakes on Saturday.

Ridden by Daniel Tavares, Jessaprimadonna clocked a 103 speed index in :17.70 seconds for the 350-yard race. The three-length victory paid $2.40 to win on 1/5 odds.

Jessaprimadonna is in a rerun of last year's stakes victories. The six-year-old mare has ten career wins, including last year's Century Mile Princess Stakes. She won the Old Timers Classic Stakes last month, as well as in 2023.

Jessaprimadonna also placed first in the Princess Derby in 2021. She has lit the board 17 of 28 starts, and today's $8,103 (US) winner's share of the purse boosts the heavy favorite's lifetime earnings to over six digits, $103,803.

Leroy Janacek, Jr bred Jessaprimadonna in Louisiana out of the Favorite Cartel mare Favorite Primadonna. Misael Moreno conditions the daughter of One Sweet Jess for owner Cindy Fehr.

Naughtee Or Nice, ridden by Martin Ortiz, gets place in a photo finish for second over Ms Clara and her rider Adrian Gonzalez. The daughter of Tf Im That Guy has four career wins with $27,003in the bank.

Dean Frey bred Naughtee Or Nice in California out of Illthinkaboutit by Carters Cartel. The four-year-old filly is owned and trained by Tom Kenway.

Third Place finisher Ms Clara, was bred in New Mexico by Randy and Linda Schalla. Trainer Harold Wippert, Jr., owns the daughter of Comanche Moon in partnership with Arlene Wippert. The multiple winner out of Im Jesses Lucky Girl by Jesse James Jr has $23,975 in career earnings.

Springeleer, ridden by Daniel Garcia, placed fourth and She Wears The Pantz, with Moreno Ricardo in the irons, placed fifth.
