Seis Chilitos, under jockey Nestor Duran, won the $69,090 Sam Houston Juvenile Stakes Saturday night at Sam Houston Race Park.

HOUSTON, TX–JUNE 15, 2024– Seis Chilitos broke clean then drove to a three-quarter length win in the $69,090 Sam Houston Juvenile Stakes Saturday night at Sam Houston Race Park.

Jockey Nestor Duran guided the daughter of first-crop sire Chilitos to her second victory and first career stakes win in four starts.  The gray filly clocked 16.756 seconds over the 330 yards to earn a 99-speed index into a 6 mph headwind.

Trainer Juan Diaz, Jr. saddled the $28,000 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate for owner Jaime Cardenas. Richard Arizpe bred Seis Chilitos in Texas from the Tres Seis mare Seis Passes. She has compiled a (4) 2-1-1 record and banked $31,224.

"Since the beginning, she showed a lot. We were excited about running her in the Sam Houston trials as we felt she would do well," Cardenas said after the win. "She didn’t make the final but ran a really good race tonight. We have her paid into the TQHA Sale Futurity."

From the family of world champion Merganser, Seis Chilitos is a half-sister to stakes winner Louisiana Seis and stakes-placed Louisiana Hit Man.

Magic Apollitical gained late under jockey Jose Alvarez to earn $13,818 for second. Trainer Miguel Castillo trains the Apollitical Jess daughter for owner AA Farms, LLC. Turner Farms bred Magic Apollitical in Texas from the Corona Cartel mare Visual Magic.

Outcome Is Income was a head back to earn $10,364 for third. Fourth in the Oklahoma Juvenile Stakes two races back, Outcome Is Income is a Kiss My Hocks gelding also from the Juan Diaz, Jr. Stable. Carlos Ponce owns the bay gelding out of Mischka Brown by Big Daddy Cartel Namgis Quarter Horses LLC is the breeder. Victor Urieta, Jr. was riding.

Some Ones Diva, Jess Louisiana Girl, This Eagles Armed, Sheaux Bizz, Coco Ravin, Muddys King Trace, and Kvn Valiant Corona completed the field.
