JEROME ID–JUNE 16, 2024–Walking Thru, a stakes-winning daughter of Bodacious Dash, put in a strong effort to defeat Streakin Wes by a neck in the $6,500 Pete Arrossa Memorial Stakes (not black type) at Jerome County Fair Sunday.

Under jockey Oscar Villa, Walking Thru completed the 350-yard task in 17.932 seconds, equaling a 93-speed index into a 10 mph crosswind. It was the third win in 10 starts for the 3-year-old filly. The $3,380 winner's purse swelled her bankroll to $28,459.

Trainer Ramiro Fregoso conditions the Idaho-bred for owner Miguel Camacho.  Edward and Von Zae McNelis bred Walking Thru from the Fire And Corona mare Awesome Gift. She won the Idaho Cup Derby at Pocatello Downs on May 18 and was second in the Roche Equine Veterinary Services Futurity last season.

Streakin Wes put in a steady effort under jockey Raphel Romero to earn $1,495 for second. Edgar Juarez trains the stakes-winning son of Panama Wes for owner-breeder Ramiro Saldana.  Winner of last year's Gary and Sherilyn Blattner Memorial Derby, Streakin Wes is from the Streakin Sixes mare Streakin Zestfully. He has earned $20,183.

Ojd Shez Gon Rogue finished 1-1/4 lengths off the leaders to earn $748 for third. Karla Diaz-Gomez and Oscar Diaz are the owner-breeders of the 4-year-old Heza Fast Rogue filly from Bugs Wagon by Pyc Paint Your Wagon. Trainer Erasmo Soto named jockey Jordy Muniz to ride. The winner of the last season's Elko Derby, Ojd Shez Gon Rouge had earned $54,817 in 15 career starts..

Lew Lew Belle and Dr Minon completed the field.
