Jets Eyes, ridden by Cesar Moreno, won his trial heat and clocked the fastest qualifying time to the $22,000 added KC Carden Wyoming Bred Derby at Wyoming Downs on Sunday

EVANSTON, WY–JUNE 16, 2024–Wyoming Downs hosted six trials Sunday afternoon with 55 three-year-olds running for a spot in the $22,000 added KC Carden Wyoming Bred Derby. Finals will be held on June 30th.

Jets Eyes, ridden by Cesar Moreno, won his first out of the season in trial number 2 from wire-to-wire by 3/4-lengths over D and D Dynasty. The son of Ec Jet One flew from the gates and clocked the fastest qualifying time with a 94 speed index in :17.580 seconds with a 15 mph crosswind. The 350-yard effort paid $4.80 to win on 7/5 odds.

The $3,600 winner's share of the trial purse increased the lightly raced three-year-old's earnings to $32,157 for owner/trainer Kylie Valenzuela. Jets Eyes has lit the board in four of five starts with two career wins. He placed second in the Ron Cook Accredited Wyoming Bred Futurity and fifth in the Rocks Springs Wyoming Bred Futurity from his freshman campaign.

Maria Valenzuela bred Jets Eyes out of the Hawkinson mare Hawkinson Eyes.

Valenzuela also saddled Cesar Moreno aboard the second-fastest qualifier from trial number three, Pappas Fame, for owners Andrea and Eddie Jensen. The heavy favorite won by 1/2-length over Wanna See My Quickie, clocking a 92 speed index in :17.633 seconds.

Ron and Laurie Moosman bred Pappas Fame out of Makn Fame by Maknmoves. The son of Pappasite has eight career wins from 11 starts with $173,527 in the bank, including the Wyoming Downs Futurity and Powder River Futurity in 2023.
