Stakes Veteran Bee A Freight Train Posts First Win Of The Season In Director's Handicap

GRANTS PASS, OR–JUNE 22, 2024–Multiple stakes winner Bee A Freight Train dug in for a wire-to-wire victory in the $15,700 Director's Handicap at Grants Pass on Saturday.

Jose Guerrero got the leg up aboard Bee A Freight Train and directed him to a 3/4-length victory over Dc Ladys Dashn Eagle in :17.414 seconds, clocking a 97 speed index. The 350-yard win paid $7.00 on 5/2 odds.

The $7,850 winner's share of the purse boosted Bee A Freight Train's lifetime earnings to $105,534 for owner Alberto Avila. The four-year-old son of Freighttrain B has lit the board 16 of 17 starts with ten career victories, eight of which were in stakes competition.

Bee A Freight Train won the Autumn Derby, Sand And Sea Stakes, Jack Rhoden Memorial Bonus Challenge, and Gary & Sherilyn Blattner Memorial Derby in 2023, as well as the Pocatello Downs Fall Open Futurity Prineville Quarter Horse Futurity, Emerald Downs Juvenile Challenge, and Firecracker Futurity Stakes Consolation in 2022.

Darian Burt bred the $26,000 Heritage Place Sales graduate in Utah out of N Bee C by Apollitical Jess. Mario Portillo trains him.

Dc Ladys Dashn Eagle, ridden by Santiago Jimenez, drifted in late for second by a nose over post-time favorite Whiskey Diva and jockey Jake Samuels.

Dc Ladys Dashn Eagle has four wins from 11 starts and earned $45,852 for owner/breeder Donald Conway of Washington. Hector Magallanes trains the four-year-old stakes-winning son of One Dashing Eagle. He is out of Dc Lady Juno by Gol.

Whiskey Diva has lit the board nine of 12 starts with four wins and $23,719 in the bank. Trainer Freddy Ibarra saddled the daughter of Hes Relentless for owner Francisco Ruiz. Michael McKay and Pat Vanpelt bred the four-year-old filly in Oregon out of Fergilicious by Volcom.

The remaining order of finish is Corona Wagon Train, Warhock, Bnb Lighting McQueen, L Bar D Rosie Lee and Gc Harrys Game. Callaita was scratched.
