Og Flamingo Stays The Course For The Win In The $29,625 APHA 79 and Under Speed Index Futurity

TULSA, OK,–JUNE 22, 2024–Og Flamingo remains undefeated in her second career start after winning the $29,625 APHA 79 and Under Speed Index Futurity (not black type) at Fair Meadows in Tulsa on Saturday.

It was a tight finish at the wire. Jockey Roman Cruz guided Og Flamingo to her victory by a head over Firstapolliticaljese and It Takes A Village, who crossed the wire for second in a dead heat. Wf Jess Tax Me, Dealin N Lights and Hes Painted Hot followed the three pack by only noses at the wire for fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. Hansomer veered out of the group for seventh. 

Og Flamingo broke fourth from the gates but quickly regained ground, taking the lead at  first call and keeping it to the wire. The 330-yard victory was clocked in :17.952 seconds, and paid $27.20 for the upset on 11/1 odds.

Conditioned by leading trainer Dee Keener, Og Flamingo broke her maiden at Remington Park in May. The daughter of Country Chicks Man has $13,995 in career earnings after cashing in the $13,331  winner's check from the Futurity.

Jay Rose bred Og Flamingo in Oklahoma out of Snows Gone by Snowbound. 918 Bloodstock owns the bay filly.

Firstapolliticaljese was ridden to the wire by Cordarelton Benn. The son of PQH Apollitical Jess has lit the board three of four starts with one win at Remington Park in May. He has banked $19,744 for owner/trainer Luz Chavira. Firstapolliticaljese was bred in Oklahoma by Kelly Adams out of the Readi To Be Famous mare First Famou Jess.

Trainer Matt Whitekiller saddled jockey L. Salvador Martinez aboard It Takes A Village in his dead heat for place. The son of Painted Turnpike has earned $6,413. Dan and Kaye Jones bred and own the Oklahoma homebred out of Gogo Maserati by Second Painted Sign.
