Sj Illusive N Shady, piloted by Jacob Cardenas, wins the $110,000 Wyoming Bred Quarter Horse Futurity at Energy Downs on Saturday.

GILLETTE, WY–JUNE 29, 2024–Third fastest qualifier from the trials, Sj Illusive N Shady, returns on Saturday at Energy Downs for the win in the $110,000 Wyoming-Bred Quarter Horse Futurity

Sj Illusive N Shady broke best from the gates, edging clear for a wire-to-wire victory by a length over Vvr Canella Velvet. Piloted by Jacob Cardenas, the son of Fiftyshadezofgrey clocked an 80 speed index in :15.775 seconds, and the slight upset paid $12.40 to win on 5/1 odds.

The $55,000 take home for the win boosted Sj Illusive N Shady's bankroll to $58,950 and improved his career win streak to 3 and 0. The undefeated gelding won his trial heat in the BHS Open Futurity in May but did not return to the finals. He then followed it with a win in the Wyoming Bred Futurity trials.

Jess Matt saddled Sj Illusive N Shady for owners James and Stephanie Ferguson. Gerald Kaul bred him out of the Beduino Secret mare Secretly Illusive.

Vvr Canella Velvet, piloted by Juan Rivas, broke her win streak with a second-place finish. The daughter of Coronas Velvet has earned $22,250 for owners Jared and Dennis Woolsey. Mike Lipp bred the Kylie Valenzuela trained filly out of Terarad by Jesse James Jr.

Ricardo Del Cid got the leg up on third-place finisher Teller June, who has yet to break her maiden. Jorge Garfias conditioned the daughter of Junior June Bug for owner Alejandro Saenz. Dan and Kim Lapierre bred Teller June out of the Theller Cartel mare Koris Knud Chick.

Kcross Comin In Hot, Jessa Misty Summer, Bv Camila, Y O At A Glance, Bittons Knud Romantz and Chase This Creek round out the order of finish. Mr Volaris was scratched.
