EVANSTON, WY–JULY 6, 2024–Yo Morning Delite is no stranger to winning. The 13-time winner makes her third consecutive trip to the winner's circle this season in the $19,350 Ron Moosman Stakes.
Breaking fifth from the gates, Yo Morning Delite flew from the outside with Jarred Journet in the irons to score a neck victory over Er Switching Mtns and jockey Cesar Moreno. The post-time favorite clocked a 105 speed index in :19.612 seconds. The 400-yard effort was run against a ten mph crosswind and paid $5.80 to win.
Trained by Matt Tryston, Yo Morning Delite has won five stakes races, including the Silks & Spurs Maturity two weeks ago at Energy Downs. Last year, he also won the Rock Spring Wyoming Bred Derby and Wyoming Stallion Owners Derby. Today's $11,610 winner's check increased his bankroll to $150,560.
Gerald Kaul owns and bred Yo Morning Delite in Wyoming out of Rs Afternoon Delite by Southern Corona. The four-year-old gelding is sired by Brindis Por Cayenne.
Runner-up Er Switching Mtns made his debut start for 2024. The five-time winning son of Jr Dynasty Mountain has earned $35,028 for owners Ross Brown and Elsha McGary. Brown also trains the five-year-old gelding out of Rm Switching Chicks by Chickie Cherry Cola. Ron and Laurie Moosman bred him.
Third-place finisher Moments was ridden by Uriel Dominguez for owner/trainer Galde Van Tassell. The four-year-old son of Glock has two career wins with $46,207 in earnings. Dan and Patricia Baker bred him out of the Hard Hitting mare Bk Katniss.
The remaining finish orders were The Iron Chef, Makin Turtlemoves, Rays Lane, A Dusty Lil Diamond, and Kcross Cuatro. Racy Angel was scratched at the gate.
