Te Runnin Royal Kid Breaks His Maiden in the Speed Index Stakes at Pocatello Downs

POCATELLO, ID–JULY 26, 2024–Heavy favorite Te Runnin Royal Kid goes wire-to-wire under jockey Jesus Flores for his first career victory in the $8,350 Speed Index Stakes (not black type) at Pocatello Downs on Friday.

The four-year-old son of Ya Runnin Scared defeated Prada N Marfa, ridden by Jesus Virgin by 3/4-lengths in :18.352 seconds. Te Runnin Royal Kid's victory by $5.00 to win.

Prada N Marfa crossed the wire for second 1/2-length ahead of Five Splash Flash and jockey Brayan Juarez, who placed third. Boom Taka Locka Lu and Special Candy finished the run order for fourth and fifth.

Te Runnin Royal Kid earned $5,010 for the victory, which boosted his career bankroll to $11,057. The North Dakota-bred gelding placed third in the All Breed 89 and Under Speed Index Stakes and fourth in the EISF Quarter Horse Stakes last year.

Javier Duarte saddled Te Runnin Royal Kid for owner Guillermo Duarte. T E Goolsbey bred the sorrel colt out of Special Dash Chick by Its Royal Time.

Runner-up Prada N Marfa has yet to break her maiden and has earned $2,163. The three-year-old daughter of The Marfa Lights is owned and trained by Josh Theurer. She was bred in Texas by SF Racing and Enterprises, LLC out of Rosearian by Coronado Cartel.

Owen Udy trained third-place finisher Five Splash Flash, who has earned $4,332 for owner/breeder Lisa Carter. The winning daughter of Five Seasons was bred in Utah out of Hard Ta Makea Spalsh by Hard Hitting.
