SHELBYVILLE, IN–OCTOBER 26, 2024–Rr Crown This Jess scored his first career victory on Saturday in the $30,000 Governors Final Consolation Stakes (not black type) at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

Delightful D, piloted by Rolando Pina, had a quick lead from the start but was caught at the wire by Rr Crown This Jess and leading rider of the meet Edgar Diaz. With a ten mph tailwind, the duo caught the win by a head in 17.745 seconds, clocking a 93-speed index. The 350-yard victory paid $5.20 to win on 8/5 odds.

The $16,500 winner's share of the purse increased Rr Crown This Jess' earnings to $23,490. The son of Coronado Cartel now has a record of 1-1-2 from six starts, and his first performance in stakes competition resulted in victory.

Owner-trainer Claudio Barraza bought Rr Crown This Jess for $51,000 in the Heritage Place Yearling Sale. Bred in Oklahoma by Reliance Ranches, LLC, he is out of the Apollitical Jess mare A Political Lady.

Trainer Tim Eggleston conditions runner-up Delgithful D for owner-breeder Cavenaugh Quarter Horses. She has yet to break her maiden from five starts with earnings of $10,555.  Delightful D is the daughter of the #1 leading first-year sire of stakes winners Uncle D and out of A Delightful Filly by Volcom.

Third-place finisher Sweet Vengeance, ridden by Luz Martinez, has one win from five starts and earnings of $13,712 for owner Chris Duke of Duke Racing, LLC. Reliance Ranch bred the son of Jess Good Candy out of Daisy Cakes by Pyc Paint Your Wagon. Tony Cunningham trains him.

Farr Lyla, Majestic Eye Opener, Jy Bravo, Rk Streakin Cartel, Sweeet D, Jd Valiant Luna, and Lb Tiny Tolltac complete the field.
