Dash For Cash Derby Winner Sets Fastest Time In Grade 1 Texas Classic Derby Trials
Relentless Eagle, under jockey Christian Ramos, set the fastest time from four trials contested on Saturday at Lone Star Park for the Grade 1 $328,811 Texas Classic Derby.

Dash For Cash Derby Winner Sets Fastest Time In Grade 1 Texas Classic Derby Trials

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX–OCTOBER 26, 2024–Coming off a dead-heat win in the Dash For Cash Derby(G2) with Grade 1 winner Asscher, Relentless Eagle posted a one-length victory to get the fastest qualifying time for the $328,811 Texas Classic Derby(G1) in the final trial Saturday at Lone Star Park

The 10 fastest 3-year-old colts and geldings, from four trial races, will return to Lone Star Park on Saturday, November 16 to vie for the winner’s purse valued at $146,321 over a distance of 440 yards.

Trainer Marc Jungers tapped jockey Christan Ramos to ride Relentless Eagle for owner Lance Bland.  The son of champion sire Hes Relentless rolled over the 440 yards in 21.432 seconds, a 95-speed index, to set the top qualifying time. Third fastest qualifier Top Cowboy and sixth fastest Lethalcartelfavorite also qualified from this trial.

Undefeated in three starts this season, Relentless Eagle was also a finalist in the Ruidoso QH Futurity(G1) and Texas Classic Futurity(G1) last season. George P. Mitchell II bred the bay gelding in Oklahoma from the Volcom mare Volcoms Delight. He has won five of 10 starts and earned $165,575.

Graded stakes winner Dollar Bill was a three-quarter length winner in the second trial under jockey Jorge Garcia, to get the second fastest clocking of 21.475, a 94 speed index.

Tyler and Naia Graham bred Dollar Bill in Texas from the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Jakes Painted Wagon. He has won eight of 15 career starts and banked $640,717.
