Unrelentless Has Winning Los Alamitos Return Thanks To Victory In Town Policy

LOS ALAMITOS, CA–NOVEMBER 9, 2024–Reliance Ranches' Unrelentless enjoyed a winning return to Southern California after posting a ¾ length victory in the $30,000 Town Policy Handicap on Saturday at Los Alamitos.

The Eddie Willis-trainee had a great season at the Cypress oval last year, running second in the Grade 1 Golden State Million Futurity while qualifying to the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity.

The Oklahoma-bred colt by Hes Relentless has been outstanding during his sophomore campaign, running fourth in the Grade 2 Heritage Place Derby at Remington Park while also qualifying to the Grade 1 Rainbow Derby and the $100,000 All American Invitational which were both held at The Downs at Albuquerque.

The Town Policy, however, has been his most decisive win of the year even after bumping at the start. The Flag Ranch-bred runner was third after breaking from post eight, but under the guidance of jockey Justine Klaiber he quickly moved into the lead and pulled away from his rivals to prove best in this 400-yard race.

"He broke a little slow and it was a little tight, but he prevailed and finished real strong," Klaiber said. "He just powered through."

Unrelentless earned $16,500 for the win to take his career total to $333,477. This was his fourth win in 14 career starts.

Juniors Quarter Horses' Ready For It, runner-up in the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Derby earlier this year, earned $6,750 for running second here. The Monty Arrossa-trainee won the James Smith Handicap back in April. Armando Cervantes rode the gelding by Favorite Cartel.

Rancho El Cabresto's Remember John earned $3,750 for running third with Martin Arriaga up for trainer Juan Aleman. The colt by Apollitical Jess out of Dinastia Toll Brz, by Tolltac, is half-brother to four-time world champion sire FDD Dynasty.

Mfs Cheerio, Kickin Famous, Beduino Favorite, Relentless Coronado, Cheater, and Think Again Kevin completed the field.
