CLAREMORE, OK–NOVEMBER 12, 2024–The fastest qualifier, Fun N Fire, returned Tuesday afternoon for an impressive 1-1/2 length victory in the $87,304 OQHRA Mystery Derby at Will Rogers Downs.

Fun N Fire drifted in under jockey Juan Pulido as he covered the 350 yards in 17.260 seconds, equaling a 105-speed index with a 20 mph tailwind. It was the seventh career win, fifth consecutive, for the son of a leading third-crop sire Pyc Fun N Fancy.

Jose Gamez conditions the bay gelding for owner Mayela Valdez. Rio Sosa bred the Speedhorse Derby winner and Oklahoma Futurity(G2) finalist in Oklahoma from the Walk Thru Fire mare Dolls In Fire. The $35,422 winners' purse boosted Fun N Fire's earnings to $108,686

Pinballed at the start, runner-up Cardiac Cowboy, under jockey Ramiro Garcia, earned $16,415 for finishing second. Jason Olmstead trains the Flying Cowboy 123 Oklahoma-bred gelding for owner-breeder Jo Rice. Last year's Valley Junction Futurity(G3) winner is from Southard Cartel by Carters Cartel. He has earned $320,428 in 18 career starts.

Nay Borhood Nipsey, under jockey Bryan Candanosa, chased the leaders to finish a neck back, earning $10,777 for third. Trainer Theodore Alexander saddled the Lil Kool Wagon filly for owner-breeder Cornell Burkhalter. Bred from the Hooked On Cash mare Hooked On Disco, Nay Borhood Nipsey has earned $53,582 in seven starts.

Jess A Rednec Cowboy, Relentless Bay, Heza Relentless Mess, I Am Candy, Apollitical Whiplash, and Midnight Arrival completed the field.
