GRAND PRAIRIE, TX–NOVEMBER 15, 2024–From a field of six, multiple graded stakes winner Joose Boxx scored his third stakes victory this season in the $30,000 Turkey Time Stakes at Lone Star Park on Friday.
With Victor Duran in the irons, Joose Boxx bobbled at the gates but quickly regained his composure and took the lead at the second call. The post-time favorite clocked a fast 106 speed index into a four mph headwind and stopped the clock at 17.275. The winning effort paid $2.20 on 1-9 odds.
Joose Boxx defeated Embers Time and jockey Francisco Giles by a length. Embers Time crossed the wire in a photo finish with Ihearthetrainarollin, piloted by Jesus Olivas, winning the nod by a nose for second. Ihearthetrainarollin earned third.
Joose Boxx has placed on the board in every out, and the $18,900 Turkey Time payday boosted his bankroll to $623,927. The victory improved the Juan Diaz, Jr trained gelding’s total wins to six from eight starts.
The son of leading sire Kiss My Hocks has won a stakes race at three different track from his freshman campaign, including the Oklahoma Futurity-G2 at Remington Park, TQHA Sale Futurity-G1 at Retama Park and today’s victory at Lone Star. He also placed fourth in the Heritage Place Futuirty-G1 and third in the Dash For Cash Futurity-G2.
Bred by Gerry Lynn Sigman and Diane Tatum, Joose Box was a $100,000 repurchase in last year’s TQHA Yearling Sale. He is now owned by Javier De Los Santos Muzquiz. The Texas-bred gelding is out of the Big Daddy Cartel mare C Daddys Home, a half-sister to stakes-placed Cd Rowdy James.
Trainer Martin Rodriguez saddled runner-up Embers Time for owner Javier Lujan. The daughter of Pyc Prize Time has a record of 3-1-3 from eight starts with $50,043 in the bank, including a victory in the Dash For Cash Juvenile Stakes in her last out. Alejandro Moya bred the bay filly out of Fancy Embrujos by Embrujo FG.
Third-place finisher Ihearthetrainarollin has two wins from four starts and $28,486 in earnings for owner Javier Orozco. Telma Janet Loya conditions the daughter of Freighttrain B. Bred by Gary Aber, the bay filly is out of Beautiful Corona by Corona Cartel.
Caughtmeatagoodtime, Bogarts Lil Jessie, and Eye Opener Spit complete the field. Country Clubbin, Frasier, Kiss My Maruska, Marfalous, Outcome Is Income and This Eagles Armed were scratched.
