Jess No Secrets Surprises at 22-1 In $25,250 Rocky Mountain QH Championship at Arapahoe Park

AURORA, CO—NOVEMBER 16, 2024—Jess No Secrets climbed the ranks this year to go from claimer to stakes winner on Saturday when he surprised at odds of 22-1 to win the $25,250 Rocky Mountain Quarter Horse Championship at Arapahoe Park.

Headed at one point by runner-up Mr Dash Fire, Jess No Secrets under jockey Blake Nunnally came back to win by a neck. The 5-year-old son of All American Futurity winner No Secrets Here completed the classic 440-yard distance in 22.225 seconds, an 85-speed index into an 8 mph headwind.

Conditioned by trainer Rick Scudder for owner-breeder Ross Alire, Jess No Secrets kicked off his 2024 campaign when he won a $10,000 claiming race at Wyoming Downs in July. He followed that with a sold third-place effort in an Allowance at Sweetwater Downs. After moving to Arapahoe, he was third in the Dolls Prodigy and Leo Beau Dash Stakes.

Bred in Colorado, from the Feature Mr Jess mare Jess Breeze, Jess No Secrets has compiled an (18) 6-1-5 record, and today's championship winner's purse of $15,150 boosted his bankroll to $63,171.

Jess No Secrets returned $44.60 to win, $39.60 to place and $11.40 to show.

Runner-up Mr Dash Fire broke alertly and was a game second to earn $5,050 for owner-breeder Felipe Pena. Trainer Chris Gandarilla tapped jockey Brayan Juarez to ride this year's Dolls Prodigy Stakes winner. The 5-year-old Dash Kicker gelding out of Lovin M Leave M by Separatist has earned $113,247 in 21 career starts.

Pyc Fancy Cartel was a neck back in the blanket finish to earn $2,525 for third. Edy Arturo Ontiveros is the trainer-breeder of the Pyc Fun N Fancy 4-year-old.  Gonzalo Gutierrez had the riding call for owner La Despedida Racing LLC. The multiple stakes-placed colt is out of Kimbo Cartel by Corona Cartel. He has earned $68,746 in 16 career starts.

Post-time favorite Kali K finished fourth, followed by Lightning Jess, Fearless Fortitude, Country Rocket Foose, and Koral. Pruitt Herrera was scratched.
