Just A Little Luck Is Too Good In $35,000 Final At 1,000 Yards

LOS ALAMITOS, CA–DECEMBER 8, 2024–Antonio Flores and Bruce Guttman's Just A Little Luck scored her fourth straight win at 1,000 yards at Los Alamitos on the way to winning the $35,000 Fillies & Mares Stakes Final at this distance here on Sunday night.

Racing from post number nine, Just A Little Luck went for the lead right from the start, took control as the field approached the turn, and then took off from there in route to a 2 ½ length victory over the strong closing Shared Future.

Just A Little Luck has been a horse for the course at Los Alamitos the entire year. In addition to her success at 1,000 yards, the 4-year-old California-bred by Straight Fire also posted consecutive wins here during the LA County Fair Meet at Los Alamitos.

All in all, the Antonio Flores-trained mare has won seven consecutive races, with her first local win dating back to the 2023 September daytime meet here.

"She's done excellent here," Guttman said. "She ran just the wait we hoped she would. She didn't have a good post position, but she did very well and coming down she pulled away. She did what she's supposed to do."

Guttman is a long-time supporter of horse racing.

"I've owned horses now for 20 years," he said. "I started out with Quarter Horses in Texas. I've moved into Thoroughbreds here. I've had horses with Jose Flores and (his family) for 18 years or so. We've raced at Del Mar, Santa Anita and Los Al."

Ridden by Ricardo Ramirez, Just A Little Luck earned $19,250 for the win to take her career earnings $143,994. She's won eight races from 18 career starts.

Robert Newport and Hugh Carney's Shared Future earned $7,875. Armando Aguilar piloted the Twirling Candy mare for trainer Mark Rheinford.

The Sergio Morfin-owned and trained mare Shanghai Sunrise finished second and was followed by Coruscation, Lady Run, Sweet Lil' Darlin, Rock N Roll Song, Blackjack Betty, and Golden And Blue.
