Divory Records First Official Workout Of The Pre-Season At Remington Park

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–FEBRUARY 4, 2025–Remington Park opened the track for pre-season training this morning at 7 am. Shortly after that, Divory recorded the first official workout in preparation for the 2025 American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa Season that begins on March 6.

Owned by Bill Doenz of Sheridan, Wyoming, and trained by Josh Taylor, Divory moved 220 yards in 12.63 handily over the fast track under jockey David Alvarez. The first workout took place under cloudy skies with temperatures in the low 30s.

Divory is a three-year-old Oklahoma-bred filly by Ivory James from the Strawfly Special broodmare Daring Diversion. She has started seven times in her career with one victory and one second.

Divory’s first career attempt was a fifth-place effort in maiden allowance company at Remington Park on May 4, 2024. Taylor is pleased with her workout since she has not competed since a futurity trial at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Okla. in October last fall.`

“I thought she worked really good for the first time of the year, coming off the layoff,” Taylor said.

Taylor has been training horses since 1999. He has really stepped up the process in recent years, posting victories every year since 2015.

“I really got going on my own and slowly got better horses every year. I have some owners now who have really started to invest quite a bit into it,” Taylor said. “I started out working for my parents for years. This is pretty much all I’ve ever done my whole life.”

Taylor’s mother is well known at Remington Park as a trainer in the Thoroughbred season. Marissa Black has been successful in the late summer and fall locally for many years, compiling a solid number of victories and in-the-money finishes on a regular basis.

Taylor is hopeful for a good season at Remington Park. His last victory here came on May 19, 2023 with So Sixy It Hurts.

“I have 14 here, and then I have 10 at my house in Norman, (Okla.). We’ll rotate horses in and out throughout the meet,” Taylor noted. “We have horses for overnight races, and we’ll have a couple for the Remington trials and then the Heritage Place trials later in the season.”

Taylor has compiled a total of 182 career wins, according to Equibase, with all breeds. He has 152 victories with Quarter Horses and career earnings of $1.1 million.
