Patty Wagon Train Wire-to-Wire Winner In Billy Montgomery Stakes at Louisiana Downs Saturday

BOSSIER CITY, LA–FEBRUARY 15, 2025– Patty Wagon Train, a multiple stakes winning daughter of Bp Wagon Train, kicked off her 5-year-old campaign Saturday with a convincing half-length victory in the $30,000 Billy Montgomery Stakes at Louisiana Downs.

Jockey Ubaldo Luna booted the brown mare to a wire-to-wire victory while completing the 330 yards in 16.813 seconds, equaling a 101-speed index with a 15 mph tailwind. It was the eighth career wins in 25 starts for the Louisiana-bred.

Trainer Orlando Orozco trains Patty Wagon Train for owner John T. Sargent. Today's $18,000 victory boosted the mare's earnings total to $186,310.  Steven P. Miller bred Patty Wagon Train from the Game Patriot mare Pattymegone.

Last season, she won the French Quarter Stakes at the Fair Grounds, was second in the EVD Dash and Fleshy Hemp Stakes, and third in the Opelousas Stakes(RG3).

Trainer Trey Ellis tapped Juan Garcia, Jr. to ride runner-up Apolitical Queen for owner-breeder Wilson One Consulting, LLC. The 4-year-old stakes-winning daughter of champion sire Apollitical Blood earned $6,000 to increase her earnings to $88,360. She is out of the Jess Louisiana Blue mare Dianas Queen Bee.

Moonin Princess, under jockey Yaidel Rodriguez, finished a neck back to earn $3,300 for third. Alex Clark trains the Moonin The Eagle 4-year-old for owner Efrain Ortiz. Darrel Williams bred Moonin Princess from the Corona Cartel mare Queen Of Torts. She has earned $113,519 in 21 career starts.

Jess Winnin Cartel, Cinco Dos Adio, Ovation, Lrh Shake It Up, Flying Feather, Jess Train B, and Iveseenwhatyoucando completed the field.
