Princesa Bury Gets Seventh Consecutive Win With Victory In The Mexico Derby

MEXICO CITY, MEX–MARCH 30, 2025–Fastest qualifier from the trial, Princesa Bury, doesn’t disappoint with a commanding 1/2-length victory in the $50,937 Mexico Derby Finals on Sunday at the Hipodromo de las Americas.

Alejandro Gomez gets his second stakes victory of the day aboard Princesa Bury, his first with La Feature This Bell in the Chirina Glory Stakes.

Princesa Bury broke fourth from the gates but quickly took lead at the first call and kept it to the wire. The post-time favorite clocked a 94-speed index in 15.09 seconds, which paid $1.95 for the winning ticket.

Dk Torito Cartel, piloted by E. Cruz, clocked a 92-speed index after crossing the wire in second place, paying $9.10 on the wager for place. As Easy Jet Princes, ridden by E. Cuellar, followed a length behind for third.

The $21,292 winner’s portion of the purse increased Princesa Bury’s lifetime earnings to $187,650. She received her seventh consecutive victory since September 8, 2024, with the Derby win. The unstoppable filly has lit the board 10 of 11 starts with eight career wins.

The three-year-old daughter of Danny Cartel was named the Mexican Champion Two-Year-Old Filly in 2024 at the Hipodromo de las Americas. She earned that title after winning the Mexico Breeders Futurity Challenge in October and the Mexican Bred Futurity in December.

Trainer Liderme Rene Gomez saddled Princesa Bury for her owner Cuadra Guillen. Armando Leon Bejarano bred the $29,132 Mexico Select Yearling Sale graduate. She is out of the One Dashing Eagle mare Princesa Bury Buu.

Runner-up Dk Torito Cartel has lit the board eight of 11 starts with $66,351 in the bank. The son of Danny Cartel won the Mexico Breeders Futurity Consolation in October and second to Princesa Bury in the Mexican Bred Futurity in December of last year.

Cuadra La Presita bred the three-year-old gelding out of Ms Darlin Reason SA by Good Reason SA. Luis Enrique Cruz Solis trained him for owner Cuadra San Martin.

Princesa Bury’s stablemate As Easy Jet Princes, was second second-fastest qualifier from the trials. Alejandro Gomez qualified her in the trials, but Cuellar got the riding call in the finals.

As Easy Jet Princes has lit the board in every out with a record of 2-2-3 from seven starts and earnings of $14,218. The three-year-old daughter of Red Storm Cat broke her maiden in her first start in 2024.

Gomez conditions As Easy Jet Princes for owner Cuadra La Tonka. She was bred by Luis Vazquez out of the Azalways Cajun by Cajun Luck.

Cc Regal Jack, Cc First Dance, Dk Golden Lady, Dk Melon Cartel, Sangre Dr Dragon Rch, Stoli The Corona, and Dk Fuego Danny round out the order of finish.
