MEXICO CITY, MEX–APRIL 13, 2025–Seventy-two juveniles competed in nine trials on Sunday vying for a chance to qualify to the $163,138 Mexico Futurity [RG3]. The fastest times of the day were recorded in the first and last trials, with Rey De Manny and Mr Do Chicks setting the tempos, respectively.
The 15th running of the 250-yard stakes race will be held on Sunday, May 4th, at the Hipódromo de las Américas.
Ridden by Nestor Duran, Rey De Manny set the time to beat, clocking a 92-speed index in 13.012 seconds. The son of champion sire Krash Cartel broke fourth at the gates but took the lead by the final stretch, dominating at the wire with a 2 3/4-length victory.
From the first trial of the day, Rey De Manny defeated post-time favorite La American Chic, who clocked the fourth fastest time. The winning effort paid $5.00 on 3-1 odds.
Rey De Manny earned a $2,514 payday from his first official start for owner Cuadra San Martin. Trained by Ashley Cirilo, the two-year-old clocked the fastest 220-yard workout time of fourteen on March 12.
Mr Do Chicks, piloted by O. Cervantes, clocked an 83-speed index in 13.239 seconds. The two-year-old colt, owned by Granja La Esperanza, defeated Jm Banana Eage by 3/4 lengths, which paid $6.25 on 9-2 odds.
Trainer Carlos Perez saddled the son of Mr Chiks Perry in his first career start.
Abelardo Gallegos bred both Rey De Manny and Mr Do Chiks. Rey De Manny is out of Jess Blazin Queen by Jesse James Jr, and Mr Do Chiks is from the First Down Dash mare Doyouknowhoiam.
