MEXICO CITY, MEX–MAY 4, 2025–The $13,753 Mexico Futurity Consolation, which was hosted at the Hipodromo de las Americas on Sunday night, was slated for the top ten fastest times that did not make it into the Futurity.
Dk El Canelo, ridden by Osvaldo Cervantes, won by a neck for the upset in the 250-yard finals. The son of Danny Cartel clocked an 82 speed index in 13.24 seconds, and the victory paid $9.60 to win.

Trainer Hugo Estrada conditions Dk El Canelo, who is now two for two and has earned $9,254, for owner Cuadra Los Arrallanes. Cuadra La Presita bred the sorrel colt out of Paint Me Gold by Pyc Paint Your Wagon.
Katella Krash placed second under jockey Jose Manuel Cisneros. Juan Carrasco trains the daughter of Krash Cartel out of Walking On Katella by Walk Thru Fire. She is owned by Cuadra San Dibanh and bred by L O S LLC and Abelardo Gallegos.
Trainer Marlon Quezada saddled third-placed finisher Manny SR, who was ridden by Alejandro Gomez, for owner Cuadra Mendoza. The son of One Big Bird was bred by Rancho Santa Rosa Chiapas out of Kabaret by Favorite Cartel.
Queens Eagle, Kc Queen Cartel, Hot Deadline, Tecolota De Manny, Dk Sinaldense and Br Rye Bronco complete the field. Dk Candymex, who was the early favorite, scratched.
