HOUSTON, TX–JUNE 14, 2025– Ladys Gotta Jet kept her seasonal record perfect with a determined effort in the $54,750 Miss Sam Houston Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park on Saturday night.
The 4-year-old sorrel filly, ridden by Ali Rivera, surged to the lead from the break and held off a strong late rally to win by a neck over post-time favorite Jess Louisiana Girl. She clock a 96 speed index in 16.865 seconds over 330 yards. The winning effort paid $7.00 on 8-5 odds.
Ladys Gotta Jet has now captured three stakes titles in her career, including last year’s TQHA Sale Sophomore Stakes and John Buchanan Memorial Stakes. She has won six of 17 lifetime starts, and the $32,850 winner’s share of the purse increased her bankroll to $147,336.

Bred in Texas by Pete A. Scarmardo, who also campaigns her, Ladys Gotta Jet is out of the First Down Dash mare Lady Lilia. The daughter of Ec Jet One is trained by John Stinebaugh and was ridden to victory by Ali Rivera. She was a $42,000 repurchase from the 2022 TQHA Yearling Sale.
"Always glad as a breeder and owner when your horse gives a good effort and wins a stakes race," said Scarmardo.
Jess Louisiana Girl, the post-time favorite, ran a game second, finishing a neck behind the winner. The 3-year-old bay filly by Chilitos entered off a runner-up finish in last month’s John Buchanan Memorial Stakes. She has now hit the board in seven of ten starts and has earnings of $57,986. She was also a finalist in last year’s TQHA Sale Futurity (G1) and Sam Houston Juvenile Stakes.
Bred by Anahi Martinez, Jess Louisiana Girl is out of Sissy Cartel, a daughter of The Louisiana Cartel. She races for Eleazar Martinez Sr. and is trained by Victor Fierro. Claudio Aguilar had the riding call aboard the $24,000 TQHA Yearling Sale repurchase.
Embers Time delivered another strong effort to finish third, three-quarters of a length behind Jess Louisiana Girl. The daughter of Pyc Prize Time has finished in the top three in nine of her ten career starts and has earned $88,166 to date.
Last month, Embers Time captured the John Buchanan Memorial Stakes, defeating tonight’s runner-up Jess Louisiana Girl. In her juvenile campaign, she won the Dash For Cash Juvenile Stakes, ran second in the Turkey Time Stakes, and third in the TQHA Sale Juvenile.
She was bred in Texas by Alejandro Moya and is out of Fancy Embrujos, a daughter of Embrujo FG. Embers Time races for Javier Lujan and is trained by Martin Rodriguez. Rodrigo Vallejo was in the saddle. She sold for $5,000 at the 2023 TQHA Yearling Sale.
Trixiee, Lipstick Promise, Perry Bogart, Destinychild, Zsuzannah, and Hogas Hero completed the order of finish.
