HOUSTON, TX–JUNE 14, 2025–Tempting Dash-sired Gainz delivered a powerful performance on Saturday night at Sam Houston Race Park, charging to a decisive win in the $77,525 Sam Houston Juvenile Stakes for two-year-olds who did not qualify for the Sam Houston Futurity finals.

Bred in Texas by the Terrazas Family and purchased for $65,000 at the 2024 TQHA Yearling Sale, Gainz is a sorrel gelding out of the One Famous Eagle mare One Famous Flirt.

Racing for owner Triple Five and trained by Oscar Constancio, Jr., the talented juvenile broke sharply under jockey Jorge Garcia and never looked back, drawing away to a half-length victory. He stopped the clock in 17.698 seconds over a fast track, earning a 95 speed index while facing a 6 mph headwind.

"For a young horse, he ran a very good race," said trainer Oscar Constancio, Jr.

The win rewarded Gainz and his connections with a first-place check of $20,931. It was his first win four starts and he has banked $24,651.

The owners, Triple Five, who campaigned Gotagogh here in the Sam Houston Futurity two years ago, were thrilled with the victory by Gainz.

"We were not surprised," said Eduardo Leon on behalf of the group. "We are not sure where he will run next, but hopefully the Champion of Champions someday!"

Relentless Dasher, a son of multiple stakes sire Kiss My Hocks out of Relentless Rose by Hes Relentless, closed well from sixth early to secure the place spot.

Bred by Garlyn O. Shelton and racing for owner Gerardo Rodriguez, the $40,000 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate is trained by Bobby Pena and was ridden by Victor Urieta, Jr.

He finished a neck ahead of the third horse to earn $15,505 for his effort. Winless in four starts he has banked $19,470.

Third-place honors went to Political Kas Gl, a gelded son of multiple stakes sire Kas Tempting out of Political Debut by Apollitical Jess. Bred and owned by Garza Laurel Partnership LLC, the colt is trained by Patrick Clemons and ridden by Nestor Duran.

Political Kas Gl held strong through the lane but was outfinished. He collected $11,628 for the effort. Breaking his maiden in the May 24 trials, he has earned $17,728.

Wagering payouts reflected the upset win by Gainz, who returned $24.80 to win, $7.20 to place, and $4.60 to show. Relentless Dasher paid $4.00 and $2.60, while Political Kas Gl returned $3.20 to show.

The final order of finish was completed by El Rayo J in fourth, Apollitically Kool fifth, and Skrill sixth. Four horses—Chilley, Fearless and Famous, Jj Jewelz, and Sew Fast—were scratched.

Gainz’s breakout performance underlined his class and potential, making him a contender to watch through the remainder of the 2025 juvenile racing season.
