BELCOURT, ND–JUNE 15, 2025–KGS Wish (APHA) keeps her 2025 campaign perfect with a victory in the Mixed Breed Open 550 Stakes (not black type) at Chippewa Downs Sunday,
KGS Wish covered the 550 yards in 29.541 seconds under jockey Dakota Wood. Breaking sharply from post four under Dakota Wood, the five-year-old APHA mare controlled the pace from start to finish, holding off her rivals to earn her second win of the season by 1 3/4-lengths.
Owned by Betty Charboneau and trained by Jeff Charbonneau, KGS Wish has now lit the board in 15 of her 20 starts, with seven career wins and earnings of $31,968. Her stakes victories include the Chippewa Downs ND Bred Derby and the April La Fountain Memorial Stakes.
Stars Aligned was elevated to second following the disqualification of Oro Azteca, who had originally crossed the wire in the place position. The 11-year-old Thoroughbred gelding stayed in close range throughout under Carlos Banda and was ultimately rewarded with the runner-up spot after the stewards’ ruling.
Stars Aligned is by Idiot Proof. Bred by Timothy Francis O’Leary, he is out of Reine Des Neiges, by Smart Strike. Owned by Kristy Sabbe and trained by Dean Martin, the veteran campaigner holds a career record of 7 wins, 2 seconds, and four thirds from 29 starts, with total earnings of $34,273.
She’s So Fancy, breaking from the rail, overcame early interference to rally into third under Ricardo Martinez. She is a five-year-old Thoroughbred mare by Stanford and was bred in Kentucky by Stormy and Guy Hull, out of Nine Point Nine, by Tribal Rule.
Trained and owned by Alberto Ibanez, She’s So Fancy has earned $26,577 to date, and her finish here demonstrated both tenacity and class.
Oro Azteca was moved to fourth after the disqualification, and Shakinthemonarchy rounded out the order of finish.
