VINTON, LA–JUNE 18, 2025–Owner Rogelio Marquez, Jr and trainer Jeremy Derozin teamed to win all three trials for the $134,755 Delta Downs Louisiana Bred Oak on Wednesday evening, while also grabbing the top three qualifying spots.
San Lorenzo Luna posted the fastest qualifying time, covering 400 yards in 19.838, a 96 speed index into a 5 mph crosswind, while dominating her heat by 3 3/4 lengths under jockey Randy Edison Jr.
Owned and bred by Marquez, Jr., the 3-year-old filly is trained by Derozin. San Lorenzo Luna is a daughter of champion sire Coronas Leaving You out of the multiple stakes-winning mare Dashnunder Afullmoon, by Heza Fast Dash.
She was the top performer among accredited Louisiana-bred 3-year-old fillies vying for a spot in the final, which is set for July 12, 2025.
The second-fastest qualifier, San Lorenzo Jezz, also hails from the barn of Derozin and is likewise campaigned and bred by Marquez, Jr. The daughter of American Hussle out of Jezz Chick, by Jess Louisiana Blue, turned in a sharp 19.927 clocking in her trial with Luis L. Vivanco aboard. She earned a 94 speed index into a 5 mph crosswind for the effort.
San Lorenzo Jezz posted an impressive win with a 1 1/4-length margin and a 94 speed index, establishing herself as a strong contender heading into the final. The winner of last year's restricted Grade 1 Lee Berwick Futurity has earned $384,421 in eight career starts.
Rounding out the top three qualifiers was San Lorenzo Princess, another filly owned by Marquez, Jr. and trained by Derozin. The daughter of champion sire Apollitical Blood out of Princess Of Torts, by Corona Cartel, stopped the clock in 20.042, a 91 speed index, winning by two-lenghts under Luis L. Vivanco.
Bred by Darrell Williams, San Lorenzo Princess showed speed throughout and finished strong to secure her spot in the final. She was a $40,000 purchase at the 2023 LQHBA Yearling Sale. Winner of last year's LQHBA Sale Debutante Stakes, San Lorenzo Princess has banked $116,931 in eight starts.
