PRINEVILLE, OR—JULY 11, 2025—Ll Lil Favoritelover turned in a gritty performance to capture the $13,000 Eduardo Gutierrez-Sosa Memorial Stakes (not black type) at Crooked River Roundup on July 11, defeating a competitive field of older fillies and mares over 250 yards.

The five-year-old sorrel mare dueled from the break and held firm under jockey Salvador Ibarra, stopping the clock in 13.380 seconds for an 86 speed index on a fast track with no wind.

Owned by Jaime Leon and bred by Jamie and Martiniano Leon of Oregon, the Favorite Soldier mare out of Lil Touch of Dixie by Sixthirteen (TB) is trained by Sergio Leon.

The win added $5,200 to her career earnings and showcased her determination as she prevailed by a nose over heavy favorite Hunny Moon. He has now $23,587 in 14 starts.

Hunny Moon, a three-year-old gray filly by champion Moonin The Eagle out of All Biznez by Corona Cartel, finished second after pressing the pace throughout. Bred in Oklahoma by Bobby D. Cox, Hunny Moon races for owner-trainer Ricardo Mariles-Santos. Ridden by Oscar Cervantes, she picked up $2,600 for the effort. A $12,000 purchase at the 2023 Heritage Place Yearling Sale, the multiple sakes-placed filly has earned nearly $40,000.

Rounding out the trifecta was Dash For Zaylee, a three-year-old sorrel filly by multiple stakes sire One Sweet Jess out of Kr Red Hawk by Favorite Cartel. Bred by Ruben Magallanes in Oregon and owned-and trained by Silvestre Sanguino, she was piloted by Angel Armenta. Dash for Zaylee rallied late to earn $1,950 for third.

Pari-Mutuel Payoffs: Ll Lil Favoritelover returned $15.40 to win, $4.80 to place, and $3.80 to show. Hunny Moon paid $3.00 to place and $2.80 to show, while Dash for Zaylee paid $2.80 to show.

Also rans were Fivebarsdarkbeauty (4th), Senorita Frogs (5th), Im Perky (6th), L Bar D Rosie Lee (7th), and Ts Jess Attack (8th).
