MEXICO CITY, MEX–AUGUST 4, 2025–Rey De Manny, already hailed as Mexico’s next Quarter Horse champion, did not disappoint in the Subasta Selecta Futurity (RG2) trials at Hipodromo de las Americas on Sunday after clocking the fastest qualifying time.
Living up to the hype, the unbeaten gelding delivered a jaw-dropping performance, blazing gate to wire for an impressive three-length victory in 17.209 seconds. With Nestor Duran aboard, the son of Krash Cartel stamped himself as the clear favorite heading into the August 24 final, where he will attempt to make history as the first horse ever to sweep Mexico’s juvenile Triple Crown.
This marks his fifth consecutive victory and follows prior wins in the Mexico Futurity and the Garanones Futurity—the first two legs of Mexico’s Triple Crown. Trained by Ashley Cirilo for Cuadra San Martin, Rey De Manny’s career earnings now exceed $127,000.
Bred in Mexico by Abelardo Gallegos Fernandez, Rey De Manny is out of the Jesse James Jr mare Jess Blazin Queen. He was a $43,243 graduate of the Subasta Selecta Sale and is a full brother to 2024 Mexico Futurity winner Kin Krash, also campaigned by Cuadra San Martin.
Stablemate Payasa De Manny also impressed in the trials, clocking 17.404 seconds to secure the second fastest qualifying time. The filly is likewise by Krash Cartel and is out of Coconut Crystal by Separatist.
Bred by Abelardo Gallegos and trained by Luis Enrique Cruz for Cuadra San Martin, she was ridden by Eddi Cuellar to a three-length win in her trial heat. Payasa De Manny has consistently performed in top company, finishing second and third behind Rey De Manny in the Garanones Futurity and Mexico Futurity, respectively. She has now hit the board in all five career starts and has earned nearly $49,000.
Why Fritz posted the third fastest time of 17.474 seconds after a head victory in his trial over Kc Shes Cartel. The Fearless Fritz colt is out of Bv Why Not Me by Tres Seis and is owned by Cuadra Tarascos. He is trained by Jose Baltazar Aguilar and was ridden by Luis Daniel Falfan. Bred in Mexico by Rachuan Suarez, Why Fritz will make his stakes debut in the Subasta Selecta Futurity final.
The tenth qualifier to the RG2 final clocked 17.611, making for a highly competitive group. Four of the ten qualifiers hail from the Cuadra San Martin barn, underscoring the operation’s dominance among Mexico’s 2-year-old ranks this season.
