BURLEY, ID—AUGUST 15, 2025—Under sunny skies and a fast track, Smokin Lil Wagon delivered a determined performance to capture the $4,600 Jack Funk Sprint Stakes (not black type) at the Cassia County Fair on Friday afternoon.

Facing a headwind of 6 mph over the 250-yard dash for 3-year-olds and up, the 5-year-old bay mare stopped the clock in 13.085 seconds, earning a 105 speed index and a winner’s share of $2,760 for owners Glen T. and Jill G. Jamison.

Breaking sharply from post three under jockey Oscar Villa, Smokin Lil Wagon quickly gained command, drifting out late but holding her advantage to the wire for a half-length victory.

Bred in Idaho by John McBride, the mare is by Lil Kool Wagon and out of Smokn Mirrors, by Jumpn. She is conditioned by Glen Jamison.

Runner-up honors went to Tarzzan, a 4-year-old bay gelding by Tarzanito and out of Sparklin Cartel by The Louisiana Cartel, bred by CG Racing LLC and owned by the same entity.

Trained by Jarrett Mills and ridden by Eric Ayala, Tarzzan broke from post four, veered out early, but closed gamely to finish one and three-quarters of a length in front of the third-place finisher. The second-place effort was worth $1,150.

Third place was secured by Bw Just a Ruger, a 4-year-old bay filly by Justified and out of Bw Robins Lark by Ettaduino, bred in Idaho by Thomas Boyd & Betty Weeks. Owned by Maria E. Baltodano, trained by Glen Jamison, and ridden by Jesus Flores, Bw Just a Ruger was bumped initially but kept to her task, to earn $690.

The race order of finish was: Smokin Lil Wagon (1st), Tarzzan (2nd), Bw Just a Ruger (3rd), Ma Pistol Man (4th).

Pari-mutuel payoffs returned $3.40 to win, $3.20 to place, and $2.80 to show on Smokin Lil Wagon. Tarzzan paid $3.20 to place and $2.40 to show, while Bw Just a Ruger returned $3.20 to show.
