ALTOONA, IA—AUGUST 16, 2025—In a dramatic finish at Prairie Meadows, Kwik Fast Prize and Rebas First Kiss could not be separated at the wire, finishing in a dead-heat for first place in Saturday’s $72,800 Iowa Stallion Quarter Horse Futurity for accredited Iowa-bred 2-year-olds.
The pair stopped the clock in 18.319 seconds for 350 yards over a fast track against a 5 mph headwind. The pair split the first and second purse money to take home $22,932 each.
Kwik Fast Prize, a brown filly by Kiss Me Anywhere out of Fast Prize Tacita by Tac It Like A Man got her first career win in two stars. She was bred in Iowa by Craig J. Kirby. She races for owner Paul Tonderum, is trained by Alex Wessels, and was piloted by Cristian Esqueda.

Dead-heating with her was Rebas First Kiss, a chestnut filly also by Kiss Me Anywhere, out of Tellher to Fly by Teller Cartel. She was bred by Robert S. and Sandra L. Brown, who also own her.
The filly is trained by Tony Jones and ridden by Armando Alvidrez. This was the second win for Rebas First Kiss, who broke her maiden in her last start, July 27. Also a finalist in the Hawkey Futurity she has banked $40,605 in four starts.

Finishing third was Trs Just Like Dutton, a bay gelding by Just Amazing Jess out of Determinedly by First Wrangler. Bred and owned by Vernon Hammes, he is trained by Henry Guillory, Jr. and ridden by Jorge Torres. Winless in four starts, he took home up $7,280 for the effort.
Pari-mutuel payoffs reflected the rare dead-heat scenario. Kwik Fast Prize returned $6.60 to win, $8.00 to place, and $4.60 to show. Rebas First Kiss, the heavy favorite, paid $2.10 to win, $2.20 to place, and $2.10 to show. Trs Just Like Dutton returned $6.60 to show.
Completing the field were Kiss Me to the Moon (4th), Cartel Special Storm (5th), Rm Boldivory (6th), Cj Wil He Make It (7th), Breakaway Bandit (8th), Ts Fast Guy (9th), and Miss Kissem (10th).
The Iowa Stallion Futurity highlighted Prairie Meadows’ summer Quarter Horse stakes program and showcased the strength of Iowa’s breeding industry, with Kiss Me Anywhere siring both dead-heat winners.
Editor's note: A photo of the winner will be posted when it becomes available from the track photographer.
