MEXICO CITY, MEXICO–OCTOBER 19, 2025–Br Chivali Nazareno reaffirmed his dominance at Hipódromo de las Américas with a repeat victory in the $15,240 Merced Gomez Orozco Classic on Sunday afternoon.
The even-money favorite extended his undefeated 2025 campaign with his 13th consecutive win while also recording his fastest 400-yard time of the season at the Mexico City track. The son of Southern Corona earned a 98 speed index, stopping the clock in 19.38 seconds and pocketing $7,620 for the win.

Ridden by Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, the consistent sorrel colt out of Chivali Go by Gone to the Man is trained by Jorge Alberto Ruiz Peribán for owner Cuadra Cartas Blancas. Bred in Mexico by Maximiliano Pérez C, Br Chivali Nazareno boasts an impeccable race record, lighting the board in 27 of 28 starts with 21 wins, two seconds, and four thirds. His lifetime earnings total $273,672.
For the second consecutive year, Rare Hot Menace finished runner-up behind Br Chivali Nazareno in the Merced Gomez Orozco Classic. The Texas-bred gray gelding by Mister Fulton is out of Won Hot Menace by Executive Menace.
Bred by Scarlet Hill Farm, Inc., Rare Hot Menace races for Cuadra Sajoma under trainer Gonzalo Bastida and jockey Alejandro Gómez. He has compiled a consistent record from 12 starts, with five wins, four seconds, and two thirds, earning $57,894.
Jonezs, a sorrel gelding by Apollitical Blood out of Swinging Dash by First Down Dash, completed the trifecta for owner Rancho El Gigante. Bred by Corner K Quarter Horses LLC, the Arizona-bred runner is trained by Antonio Carranza and ridden by Huberclein Gomez Mendoza.
From 12 starts, Jonezs has three wins, one second, and three thirds, with total earnings of $32,208. Ten of his 12 starts were in the United States, where he earned $26,220 and was a finalist in the Big Easy Futurity and Texas Classic Juvenile Stakes. Since relocating to Mexico, he won his first local start in an Allowance earlier this season.
Mis Tres Corona and The Singaporean rounded out the order of finish.
