Fillies Sweep Top Three Spots in Louisiana Downs Futurity (G2) Trials Led by Whoopie Cowgirl

BOSSIER CITY, LA–MARCH 6, 2026– Fillies dominated Friday’s trials for the $313,000-estimated Louisiana Downs Futurity (G2) as Whoopie Cowgirl, Mucho Man Lady, and DK Bonita Jess posted the three fastest qualifying times of the day.

Leading the group was Whoopie Cowgirl, who secured the fastest qualifying time after winning the seventh trial in :15.309 for 300 yards, while posting a 103 speed index.

Ridden by Jorge Javier Garcia for owner Denis I. Moran and trainer Ramiro Barajas Villarreal, the filly broke in second before quickly securing the lead and drawing clear late to cross the finish line 1-length in front. The effort earned the daughter of Flying Cowboy 123 the top qualifying spot for the March 28 final and a $3,000 trial winner’s purse.

A $35,000 graduate of the TQHA Yearling Sale, Whoopie Cowgirl was bred in Texas by Mark Rigby, DVM. She is by leading sire Flying Cowboy 123, whose more than 200 winners have produced $17.3 million in earnings, led by champion and All American Futurity (G1) winner Cowboys Gun Z ($1,670,517).

Whoopie Cowgirl is out of the Tac It Like A Man mare Tacarosie, a winner and half-sister to Sam Houston Derby Challenge runner-up A Salty Corona ($21,335). She is also a full sister to graded stakes finalist Copper Pipes ($46,221). Her female family traces back to Champion Tarzanito ($429,657) and Grade 1 winner Ancient Ruler ($331,265).

Mucho Man Lady secured the second-fastest qualifying time after finishing second to Whoopie Cowgirl in the seventh trial while earning a 95 speed index.

Owned by Ruse Ranch LLC and trained by Jose A. Garcia with Manuel Gutierrez aboard, the filly is a daughter of leading young sire KJ Mucho Macho Man, whose first three crops have already produced more than $2.4 million in progeny earnings.

Bred by Ruse Ranch LLC, Mucho Man Lady is out of the Cosmosgraph mare Cosmo Traffic, a winner who finished second in the Firecracker Futurity (G2) and was a Grade 1 finalist. The filly has earnings of $1,000 from her first career start.

DK Bonita Jess recorded the third-fastest qualifying time after winning the ninth trial in :15.552, scoring a wire-to-wire victory by 1/2-length.

Ridden by Manuel Gutierrez for owner CH Horse Racing LLC and trainer Jose A. Garcia, the filly was bred by Cuadra La Presita and sold for $120,000 at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale.

She is by all-time leading sire Apollitical Jess, whose more than 800 winners have generated over $82.3 million in earnings. DK Bonita Jess is out of the Corona Cartel mare Marney Jo, a stakes winner in Mexico and full sister to Champion KVN Corona ($868,077) and Grade 1 winner Big Lew ($638,878).

DK Bonita Jess is also a full sister to DK Marney Jess ($561,063), winner of two graded stakes races.
