MEXICO CITY, MEX–MARCH 15, 2026–The $17,420 Francisco Pasquel Classic was contested over the short distance of 110 yards and was restricted to Mexico-bred Quarter Horses aged three years old and older. Sent off as even favorite, Cherry Jabuti proved best, winning the race in 6.90 seconds.
Cherry Jabuti, a four-year-old filly, earned approximately $8,710 (USD) for the victory and improved her career record to 13-8-2-1 with earnings of $42,489. The filly is known for her quick break from the gates and set the 250-yard track record in 2024 during the trials for the Merrigo Futurity.
She is by Jabuti Eagle SA, a son of world champion sire One Famous Eagle. Bred by Salome Gallegos, Cherry Jabuti is out of the Tailor This mare T Cherry Rose, a winning half-sister to graded stakes winner NC Rose $74,793.
She is owned by Cuadra Cartas Blancas, trained by Jorge Alberto Ruiz Periban, and was ridden by Huberclein Gomez. Earlier in her career, Cherry Jabuti finished third in the Las Americas Futurity.
Runner-up BR Rayito earned $4,355 and now holds a race record of 15-4-3-3 with earnings of $929,219 $51,821. The four-year-old gelding is owned by Cuadra Bronco Rider, bred by Maximiliano Perez, trained by Luis Aldo Flores Muñoz, and ridden by Paul Osvaldo Rodriguez.
He is by Southern Corona, a son of leading sire Corona Cartel, and out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Buck The Rules. Among his accomplishments, BR Rayito won the Alberto Bailleres Futurity Consolation and was a finalist in both the Mexican Breeders Futurity and the Mexican Breeders Futurity Challenge.
Third-place finisher Force A Deal, picked up $2,613 for her effort and now carries a record of 4-2-6 from 18 starts with earnings of $24,881. The filly was bred by Anjora Corp. out of the Deefirst mare Easy Winning First. Cuadra Las Vegas owns the daughter of Sky Force by One Dashing Eagle. She was trained by Angel Gustavo Magdaleno, and ridden by Arturo Vega Moreno.
SE Carver Cruzan completed the order of finish in fourth. Cc First Dance was scratched at the gate at the last moment.
