PHOENIX, AZ–MARCH 21, 2026–Dos Special Eye delivered a breakthrough performance in Saturday’s $32,800 Spring Fling Stakes at Turf Paradise. After a late surge at the wire, she defeated favored Jes Relentless in record time.
Locked in a tense duel from the start, Dos Special Eye and Jes Relentless traded strides throughout before Dos Special Eye edged clear in the final jumps, rewriting the track record previously held by Shiny Nova (17.261) from earlier this meet. The upset returned $15.80 to win.
Ridden by Mark Jasso, the six-year-old veteran mare showed grit in her seasonal debut, converting years of stakes experience into her first black-type victory and earning $19,352 for owner/breeder Rosa Oros. She stopped the clock in a 17.192 seconds for 350 yards into an 8 mph headwind, clocking a 106 speed index.

Trained by Alex Garcia, Dos Special Eye, has now earned $180,969 from 21 starts. She improved her record to seven wins, two seconds and three thirds. Bred in New Mexico, the daughter of Eye Am King is out of Forty One Special by Woodbridge. Prior to this effort, she had competed in five stakes events including the NM Classic Filly and Mare Championship Stakes-G1, Balloon City Stakes-G2, Vista Distaff Stakes, Jess Burner Stakes, and La Plata Stakes, but had not previously broken through at for black type status.
Jes Relentless did everything but win, setting the tone early and fighting on gamely before being caught late to finish second, a neck behind the winner. The 4-year-old filly, sent off as the heavy favorite, added $6,232 to her bankroll and now shows earnings of $74,702.
The daughter of Hes Relentless was bred in Louisiana by Eddie Cramer, Tom Maher, and Bill Maher out of Jes All That by Corona Cartel. Trainer Heber Deyta Melendez also owns Jes Relentless in partnership with Maria Deleon. She was a $19,000 purchase at the 2025 Heritage Place Mixed Sale.
Jes Relentless was coming off a runner-up effort in the Allred Brothers Stakes and had captured the Mike Hastings Memorial Stakes in December. She now has a record of 5-3-2 from 19 starts.
Sweet Fire Wes closed willingly to secure third, finishing two lengths back after launching a late rally under Cerapio Figueroa. The multiple stakes-winning 4-year-old filly earned $2,952 and now boasts $84,228 in career earnings from 12 starts.
Bred in Arizona by Fernando Canales, the daughter of Panama Wes is out of Sheza Sweet Fire by One Sweet Jess. Owned by Ricardo Ramirez and trained by Rigoberto Guillen, Sweet Fire Wes added another solid stakes placing to a résumé that already includes victories in the AQRA Futurity and ARRA President Open Spring Derby.
The remainder of the field followed with Imm Beyond the Stars, Fedra, Spelling Bee, Kj Flashy Girl, Milagro Lady, Cant Tell You Why, and Carousel completing the order of finish.
