OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–MARCH 22, 2026– Racket Ridge took a drop in class and that’s all that was needed for the gelded Kansas-bred son of Apollitical Jess to win the featured allowance race Sunday at Remington Park.
Making his debut as a 3-year-old debut, Racket Ridge, a gelding from the PYC Paint Your Wagon mare Lovepop, had last raced at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Okla., in the $366,000 Black Gold Futurity for 2-year-old colts and geldings on Nov. 11, 2025. He had won his trial to qualify for that race on Oct. 27, but when he ran ninth in that final, trainer Jason Olmstead of Pryor, Okla., decided to drop him back down to the allowance level for his first start as a 3-year-old.
Racket Ridge responded to the class drop with the swiftest of speed among 10 colts and geldings that went to post for the finale on Sunday’s card in the 10th race under jockey Francisco Ramirez, Jr. Racket Ridge earned $14,265 from the $28,650 allowance purse for owner Paul Treadwell of Derby, Kan. That trip to the winner’s circle improved the winner’s record to eight starts, two wins, and two seconds for earnings of $30,889. He was bred by the owner.
The winning time Sunday for the 330 yards over a fast track with a strong tailwind was :16.542, earning a 95 speed index. Racket Ridge was sent off as the lukewarm 3-1 favorite in the race. He paid $8 to win, $4.60 to place and $3.60 to show. He won the race by a half-length over longshot runner-up Southern Furrtreeous (17-1). That $2 exacta was worth $181. The 50-cent trifecta with Darioush (6-1) checking in third was worth $309.05. Darioush was another half-length back in that third spot. Rounding out the superfecta was fourth-place finisher Relentless James (5-1) and that 10-cent wager returned $250.07.
Racket Ridge concluded a late 50-cent Pick 4 that paid a generous $499.45. The Pick 4 also included VP Rocket Ryon (2-1) in the seventh, Dulce Dreams (5-2) in the eighth and TF Premo Dash (5-1) in the ninth. That horse was the longest price of the four at 5-1.
Remington Park racing continues Thursday through Sunday, March 26-29. The first race nightly is at 6pm with Sunday racing at 4pm. All times are Central.
