Baby Daddy Cartel surges clear late under jockey Luis Angel Flores Garcia to win the $100,000 New Mexican Spring Fling Stakes at Sunland Park, remaining undefeated in two starts.

SUNLAND PARK, NM–APRIL 4, 2026– Baby Daddy Cartel surged late to win the $100,000 New Mexican Spring Fling Stakes on April 4 at Sunland Park, covering 300 yards in :15.249 seconds over a fast track.

Ridden by Luis Angel Flores Garcia, the gelding overcame early traffic, advanced through the stretch, and drew clear late to defeat Ima China Girl, while Kings Landing finished third. The winner earned $47,000.

Owned by Tungsten Racing Partnership and trained by Eric Valenzuela, Baby Daddy Cartel was bred by Paul Cervantes. The gelding is sired by Big Daddy Cartel and is out of the First Moonflash mare Startedwithawhisper, an unraced mare.

He now has one victory and one third place finish from two starts with earnings of $48,090.

Runner-up Ima China Girl raced close early, vied through mid-stretch, and held for second after being outkicked late. Ridden by Emilio Tapia, the filly is owned by Abigail Alexandrea Cardenas and trained by James Gonzales III.

Bred by MJ Farms, she is also sired by Big Daddy Cartel and is out of the graded stakes-winning Rushago mare Ima China Rush ($252,767). A $28,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate, she is a half-sister to graded stakes placed runner Young Emperor ($141,478). From two starts, she now has earnings of $24,540.

Kings Landing broke well and dueled past mid-stretch before being outfinished late, holding third. Ridden by Luis Martinez, the gelding is a homebred for La Feliz Montana Ranch LLC and is trained by Xavier Rodriguez.

He is sired by graded stakes sire Bogart and is out of the Tempting Dash mare Queen Yanet, a half-sister to stakes winners Torts On Fire ($432,931) and First Down King ($139,622). A $40,000 Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Sale graduate, he has earnings of $13,180 from two starts.

First Flash Beauty finished fourth, followed by Dahlias Destiny, Rc A Flashn Comet, This Babes Flashn, Keenan, Mw Big Daddy Issues, and Start Big.
